lyrics

As the lights fade in the distance
and the image begins to fade
What have I just ended?
What have I brought to birth?
"We're all connected pieces,
We are a whole," she said
Put away your naive rhetoric
and live life instead
Between the 6th and 7th
cold glass of gin
I let those words fall
Truth has a way of stealing the moment
and making fools of us all
"You scrub up well" she said
"This time you've really made the grade."
Well there's always dirt girl
beneath my fingernails
This heartache's delicious
It has fed me for years
And I love that dark lonely place
Where nothing touches me
You thought you'd seen the worst of me
Now perhaps you never will
Between the highs and lows
and the sleepless nights
Maybe you've had your fill
There's one thought that you can hold
and maybe one day treasure
Right now I serve to uplift and degrade
in almost equal measure
